Why do humans form tribes, create religions, and wage wars? Is between-group violence inevitable? Drawing on Robert Sapolsky’s Behave and Determined, participants explore the biology and culture of morality, aggression, and cooperation. After an introduction to key principles, students anonymously “vote” before and after a structured small-group debate to assess how discussion and evidence influence beliefs about free will and responsibility.
