Chautauqua Institution Terms of Service

General Statement

Our goal is to make your purchasing experience easy, efficient, and equitable, so we can get you on your way to creating your Chautauqua experience. 
 
Chautauqua Institution reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify or replace any of these policies at any time. It is your responsibility to check the policies periodically for changes. Your continued use of this site following the posting of any changes constitutes acceptance of those changes. If any change to these policies is not acceptable to you, your sole remedy is to cease accessing, browsing, and otherwise using tickets.chq.org. 

Terms and Conditions

A valid gate pass or program ticket is required to enter and exit the Chautauqua Institution grounds. Present the gate pass or program ticket for scanning on each entrance to and exit from the grounds and for access to some venues, such as the Amphitheater and the Performance Pavilion on Pratt. 
 
The tickets and passes and their use is governed by the laws of the State of New York including Sections 170.05 and 190.25 of the Penal Law relative to forgery and criminal impersonation. Chautauqua Institution, or its affiliates, may photograph, film, videotape, record or otherwise reproduce the image and/or voice of any person on Chautauqua Institution or Chautauqua Hotel Company property, and use same for any permitted purpose without payment to any person. 
 
Entry and seating will be subject to New York State guidelines and restrictions in place at the time of your visit. Before you arrive, please visit our website, chq.org, for information about health and safety protocols (including those related to COVID-19), parking, dining, shopping, programs and other activities covered by this ticket/gate pass. 

COVID-19 Attestation and Vaccinated Seating Sections

Attestation

Patrons must truthfully self-screen using the questions listed below daily during their stay on the grounds of Chautauqua Institution. If any of the answers to the screening questions listed below are “YES,” they must not enter Institution venues until they have spoken with a health care provider to determine the appropriate course of action: 

  • Are you currently experiencing, or have you recently (within the past 48 hours) experienced, any symptoms of COVID-19 (Fever, NEW cough, NEW shortness of breath, NEW body aches, NEW sore throat)?
  • Have you had close contact (or proximate contact as determined by health authorities) in the past 10 days with any person confirmed by diagnostic test, or suspected based on symptoms, to have COVID-19?
  • Have you tested positive for COVID-19 through a diagnostic test in the past 10 days?
  • Have you traveled to New York State from a noncontiguous state, United States territory, or CDC level 2 or greater travel advisory country within the past 10 days and failed to follow the State’s travel advisory?

Patrons must abide by all then-current Chautauqua Institution, Chautauqua County and New York State regulations and guidance related to COVID-19 during their stay, as the same may exist from time to time, and they must understand that penalties for non-compliance may range from a warning to revocation of a gate pass or program ticket. 

Vaccinated Only Sections in Venues

In order to be placed in the vaccinated seating section, all members of the reservation need to have received their final vaccine dose at least two weeks prior to entry into the venue. If all members are not eligible, please contact the Ticket Office to adjust your seats. All vaccinated patrons will be required to show proof of vaccination to qualify for seating in the vaccinated section. Approved methods of proof are a photo ID, plus your vaccination card, a physician-provided certification of vaccination, or a photo/photocopy of your vaccination card. Photos on moblie phones are acceptable.  

Non-Authorized Ticket Purchases

Tickets to events at the Chautauqua Institution, including single tickets to events in the Chautauqua Amphitheater or the Performance Pavilion on Pratt, must be purchased through the Chautauqua Institution Ticket Office.
Scalpers and ticket brokers are not recognized ticketing agents of Chautauqua Institution. If you purchase from a non-authorized person or ticket broker, you risk purchasing an invalid, lost or stolen ticket that is not valid for admittance into Chautauqua Institution for the event in question. Chautauqua Institution employs scanning technology for admittance to events.

Only valid tickets will scan to authorize entry into gates and venues for an event. Invalid, lost or stolen tickets will be deactivated and thus will not be valid for entry into the gate or venue for the event in question. Anyone who purchases tickets from a scalper or ticket broker does so at their own risk. We urge everyone to purchase tickets at the Chautauqua Institution Ticket Office or at authorized vendors.

Ticket Limit

You may be limited to a certain number of tickets for each Event. This policy is intended to discourage other purchasers from engaging in unfair trade practices. If we learn that you are purchasing more than the pre-determined number of tickets for an Event and engaging in practices Chautauqua Institution, in its sole discretion, determine to be unfair, Chautauqua Institution will terminate your account and cancel your ticket purchase without prior notice to you.

Order Confirmation and Billing Information Verification.

If you do not receive an email confirmation of your purchase after submitting payment information, or if you experience an error message or service interruption after submitting payment information, it is your responsibility to confirm with Chautauqua Institution whether or not your order has been placed by contacting Chautauqua Institution customer support by emailing Chautauqua Institution at ticketoffice@chq.org.

Ticket Refund Policies

Gate Pass Refund Policy

Long-term tickets (gate passes that span 24 hours or more) will be refunded to the original form of payment until the start of the season, June 26, 2021. Requests for consideration of special circumstances made after June 26, 2021, will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

Program Ticket Refund Policy

Program tickets to lectures, opera, theater, concerts, and other events are not generally refundable. In the event that performances or lectures are cancelled, full refunds will be issued for the ticket price, processing fees and any parking purchased in association with the program ticket order.

Daily Grounds Access Pass Policy

Daily Grounds Access Passes and Overnight Passes may be exchanged for another pass of equal or greater value as long as the exchange is made prior to the pass start date. No changes can be made to expired passes. 

Delivery Fee

A ticket and pass fee may be charged for tickets and passes ordered online or through the Chautauqua Institution Ticket Office. The fee is currently $5 for "Mail" or "Pick up Later" Delivery options. 

House Credits

Any patrons who opted to defer funds in 2020 may apply their house credit toward their 2021 gate pass order. Please place your order by phone at 716-357-6250 and tell the ticket agent that you have a house credit to use. 

Ticket Replacement Policy

Any ticket that is lost, stolen or misplaced will be replaced for a non-refundable fee. Valid ID must be shown to replace any passes or tickets. 

  • Gate, parking: $10 fee

  • Program Tickets non-refundable and non-replaceable.

  • Performance Pavilion on Pratt will be refunded ONLY with corresponding long-term ticket refund requests.

Accessibility

As part of the account creation process, you will create a password and account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the password and account and are fully responsible for all activities that occur under your account, including, without limitation, all actions by sub-users registered under your account. You agree to (a) immediately notify Chautauqua Institution of any unauthorized use of your password or account or any other breach of security, and (b) ensure that you exit from your account at the end of each session. Chautauqua Institution cannot and will not be liable for any loss, damage or other liability arising from your failure to comply with this Section or from any unauthorized access to or use of your account. In the event of any dispute between two or more parties as to account ownership, you agree that Chautauqua Institution shall be the sole arbiter of such dispute in its sole discretion and that Chautauqua Institution's decision (which may include termination or suspension of any account subject to dispute) shall be final and binding on all parties. 

Account, Password, and Security

As part of the account creation process, you will create a password and account. Content

You agree that all material, including without limitation information, data, software, text, design elements, graphics, images and other content (collectively, "Content"), contained in or delivered via the Services or otherwise made available by Chautauqua Institution in connection with the Services (collectively, "Site Content") is protected by copyrights, trademarks, service marks, trade secrets or other intellectual property and other proprietary rights and laws. Chautauqua Institution may own the Site Content or portions of the Site Content may be made available to Chautauqua Institution through arrangements with third parties. Except as expressly authorized by Chautauqua Institution in writing, you agree not to sell, license, rent, modify, distribute, copy, reproduce, transmit, publicly display, publicly perform, publish, adapt, edit or create derivative works of any Site Content, or post any Site Content on any other web site or in a networked computer environment for any purpose. Reproducing, copying or distributing any Site Content for any purpose is strictly prohibited without the express prior written permission of Chautauqua Institution. You shall use the Site Content only for purposes that are permitted by these Terms of Service and any applicable laws and regulations (foreign and domestic). Any rights not expressly granted herein are reserved. 

Privacy

All information provided by you or collected by Chautauqua Institution in connection with the Services is governed by Chautauqua Institution's Privacy Policy, a copy of which is located at chq.org/privacy-policy and which is hereby incorporated by reference into these Terms. Chautauqua Institution strongly recommends that you review the Privacy Policy closely. Further, any information or Data submitted or provided by you to the Chautauqua Institution may be publicly accessible or used by Chautauqua Institution. You should take care to protect private information or information that is important to you. Chautauqua Institution and its licensors shall not be responsible for protecting any such information and are not liable for the protection of privacy of electronic mail or other information transferred through the Internet or any other network that you may use. Please be aware that if you decide to disclose personally identifiable information on the Chautauqua Institution, this information may become public.
